Jenny’s First Term

Hello my name is Jenny Anderson. I recently got involved with Love Drama after a chance coffee catch up with Charly. Charly and I enjoyed participating in Borders Youth Theatre some years ago but hadn’t seen each other in a while. Charly mentioned that she would have a drama assistant vacancy from February to cover some of her classes. I jumped at the opportunity to work with Love Drama.

I was initially only working with Woodburn Primary School on Wednesdays but I am now also involved on Tuesday at James Gillespie’s Primary and Thursdays at Lasswade Primary. I am thoroughly enjoying the varied experiences.

I have had a passion for drama since I was a toddler. An early memory is when I was fascinated with Cinderella and I got my Grandad to help me act it out. I then joined a drama group near Manchester called Northern Kids Theatre Company where I was part of various productions including ‘101 Dalmations’, ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ and ‘The Secret Garden’. After a move to the Scottish Borders I joined the Helen O’ Grady Drama School in Galashiels and then settled with Borders Youth Theatre (BYT) where you can still see me tread the boards occasionally. My experience of BYT productions has been wide and varied and includes “Romeo and Juliet”, “Peter Pan”, “Sweeney Todd” and various improvisation pieces.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work as a drama assistant with Love Drama as I recognise the many benefits which drama can bring to children from an early age.  I know that I have increased hugely in confidence by having drama and singing in my life. I am really looking forward to seeing what the future holds with Love Drama.
