The Love Drama 12-16s Weekly Class are delighted to announce that they have won a £1000 grant from The Hunter Foundation as part of Year of the Young People!

At the beginning of the Summer Term, our tutor Jenny was watching The One Show and there was an article featured all about The Hunter Foundation’s search for 100 Disrupters. This meant that if successful in their application, a young person or persons could be the lucky receivers of a very generous £1000 grant to be used to contribute creatively to their community.

Jenny told Charly about this opportunity and we decided to ask the 12-16s Weekly Class if they would like to make an application. Well, they jumped at the chance! They thought long and hard and eventually came up with the idea to purchase a portable stage and accessories. These would be used during their end of term performances and also as a way to tour around Edinburgh and The Lothians so that communities who may not have easy access to performing arts could come and see this amazingly talented group perform.

Two weeks before the end of term, Jenny received a wonderful e-mail explaining that the 12-16s Weekly Class had been successful and would be awarded the £1000 grant. We are OVER THE MOON and cannot wait to get started on the new projects that the 12-16s have lined up. A huge congratulations to them. They are such a credit to their generation, showing how much teenagers can benefit their communities when given the chance. Also, a huge thank you to The Hunter Foundation and Sir Thomas Hunter for giving this group such an amazing opportunity!
